Where India's imports come from
Import value by country of consignment (the country goods were shipped from, which can differ from where they were made). Click a country or a region to filter everything else on the page. Small countries are shown as dots.
Where the trade deficit is
India's exports minus imports for the same months, by partner country and by sector. Commodity, sector and region filters apply here; port filters don't, because exports and imports use different ports.
By partner: largest deficits and surpluses
By sector
What India imports
Each box is a commodity, sized by import value and grouped by sector. Click a box to filter by that commodity, or a sector in the legend to filter by sector.
Where it lands
Top ports by import value, coloured by port type. Port type is inferred from the port's name. Click a port or a type to filter.
Who sells what
Import value for the top commodities (rows) and top source countries (columns) under the current filters. Darker cells are larger flows. Click a cell to filter by both, or a row or column heading to filter by one.
Source: Directorate General of Commercial Intelligence and Statistics (DGCI&S), India's imports by principal commodity × country of consignment × port, cumulative January–July 2026, in US$ — DGCI&S Foreign Trade Data Dissemination Portal (12 downloads, 117,248 rows; 84,638 with a non-zero value). The trade balance uses DGCI&S export data for the same months (201,510 non-zero rows), summed across ports.
Sectors group the commodity lines into 8 broad sectors. For this view, crude oil, petroleum products and coal are grouped as Energy, and gold is grouped with gems and jewellery. Port type (seaport, airport, SEZ, inland container depot, land border) is inferred from each port's name. Diamond clearance points (DPCC Mumbai, SDB Diamond Bourse) and "Other ports" are shown as Other. Quantities are not shown because units differ between commodities.
Country of consignment is where goods were shipped from, which can differ from where they were made.
Map: India is shown with its official boundaries as depicted by the Survey of India (outline from the DataMeet India community, CC0). Other countries are from Natural Earth (1:50m), trimmed where they overlap India's official outline. India is shaded as the origin. Small territories that aren't visible on the map still appear in the rankings and the table.
